Entering via the ground floor you find a ski and boot room to your right, to your left is the huge master suite with walk in shower room, a standalone bath, cut from a single piece of stone, and a separate dressing room. The suite has its own fireplace and double doors which access a private terrace. Next you have a temperature and humidity controlled wine cellar, and hamman with a separate shower. Then there is a laundry area, linen store plus a boiler room. Beyond this there is a further en-suite bedroom with shower.
Moving upstairs you have a kitchen that has been equipped to professional standards with two Miele American fridges, three Gaggenhau ovens, lots of storage and plenty of area for plating for large groups. There is a breakfast bar and lots of light. Beyond the kitchen is a beautiful dining room with stunning views of the mountains. There is an open fire here and continuing through there is a separate TV room. There is also access to a terrace here via double French doors. On this floor you will find a further double en suite room with a shower and a bunk room with ensuite shower. There is also a separate WC for guests.
On the second floor there is huge living room of around 100m2 dominated by a central fireplace built in stone. The double height ceiling is dramatic and the exposed beams of the roof structure are extremely impressive. There are two further en suite shower rooms on this level and stairs lead up to a mezzanine which is currently used an office and gym. There is a WC on this level too.
The building sits in its own land with mature fruit trees, a huge double garage the top of which forms part of the terrace. There is plenty of parking.
Espace Killy Ski Area
The legendary ski area of Espace Killy has over 300kms of marked piste and endless off-piste options – some of the most varied and exciting skiing you can find! The ski area links the two resorts of Val d’Isere and Tignes.
Val d’Isere sits at approximately 1800 metres and is a truly modern alpine village. The pretty old town of snow filled streets and Savoyard stone buildings is home to the original village church built in 1664. The resort centre is lively and vibrant, with shops, restaurants and bars to suit any budget and taste, lining the wide, spacious main-street.
Every season, during summer and winter, Val d’Isere hosts all sorts of events – from Savoyard festivals or fayres show-casing local produce such as cheeses, cured meats or lace. International sporting events like the Tour de France and the World Ski Championships often stage an event here. Music festivals are often hosted during the summer and winter 2010 welcomes a stage of the World Snow Polo Masters Series!
The villages of Tignes are a little further down the valley towards Bourg St Maurice. Just like Val d’Isere, the ski area boasts wide, cruisey red runs, snow-parks for those who want to play and show off their tricks and quieter beginner areas where you can find your “skis” and build confidence – and of course immense off-piste itineraries, so much space you are bound to find untracked snow!
The lively resort centre is a real haven for those looking for energetic après-ski and night-life – there are lots of bars, café’s, restaurants and night-clubs to entertain until the early hours. During the day-time there is an equal abundance of activity – the resort is just as regarded as a summer resort as it is a winter snow sports centre. You will find a superb 18-hole golf course, organised activities on the lake, skiing on the glacier, beach volleyball and football and the usual mountain biking, walking and horse-riding.
Val d'Isere Ski Resort
As one of the best known ski resorts in the world, Val d’Isere is a winter paradise. Linked with Tignes it makes the enormous ski area Espace Killy. There is fantastic off piste skiing on Col d’Isere and more gentle slopes for beginners between Tignes and Val d’Isere. Tignes boasts a modern funicular which will take you to the Grande Motte glacier (3030metres) which offers summer and winter skiing.
Val d’Isere has strict building regulations with an emphasis on wood and stone….. giving an air of exclusivity, it’s a pedestrian friendly resort, made up of several hamlets, each linked by a transport service. Designer boutiques are aplenty, as is the lively ambience. As well as skiing and snowboarding, swimming, ice skating, ice climbing even driving on ice are just a few of the other activities offered in the resort. The après ski choices are impressive whether you want a cosy or contemporary dining or bar experience all tastes are catered for.Val d’Isere night life is second to none; there is no excuse not to enjoy yourself! Attracting an international clientele and hosting regular world cup events.
There is no doubt that Val d’Isere is more than the average Savoie ski resort. The Eurostar offers a regular service to Bourg Saint Maurice which lies at the foot of Val d’Isere, from here a taxi transfer can be arranged. As can helicopter transfers from the following airports Lyon (140 km), Geneva (130km), Chambery (80km) and Grenoble (120km).
