Property Description

You will never lose these superb views from this sunny studio for sale in the Col du Corbier, Le Biot. The owners have improved it by adding wooden cladding on the walls, an induction hob and extra lighting. It comes fully furnished and equipped. It is a 25 minute drive to Morzine or to La Chapelle D’Abondance for the slopes of the Portes du Soleil. It is 70km from Geneva airport and takes just over an hour.

The Col du Corbier at an altitude of 1230m straddles the vallee D’Aulps and vallee D’Abondance in the Portes du Soleil ski region. A project is underway to create a ‘Montagne Douce’ for the Col. It has a toboggan run, pistes for cross country skiing and snowshoe walks. There are husky sledge rides during February and March. This is a smart studio at a good price. The annual charges are approx €1,000. There are 237 lots in the co prop and there are not any financial legal actions pending. The Col du Corbier is a ‘stone’s throw’ from skiing in the vast Portes du Soleil domain. Abondance is 14 km and Morzine is 16 km. By car they take 20 and 25 minutes respectively.

Morzine/Avoriaz, Les Gets, Abondance and Chatel are in the Portes du Soleil ski domain that spans two countries, France and Switzerland. At only approximately 50 miles from Geneva, they couldn't be more accessible for short breaks as well as longer holidays. The Portes du Soleil is vast with 650km of slopes and plenty of off-piste besides. It consists of 14 resorts in France and Switzerland and the lift system of 209 lifts allows skiers to cross borders freely and enjoy this winter adventure park. It has an active summer programme to suit most appetites and the towns themselves are busy little Alpine towns with a lively spirit. Steeped in tradition, traditional wooden chalets, slate roofs and stone foundations ensure that the villages retain their character and Savoyard charm. In the summer they offer mountain bikers some of the world's best mountain biking terrain, boasting up to 380kms of marked trails with varying degrees of technical skill required. Morzine has been proud to be a venue for the Tour de France and host to Mountain biking championships. Some other summer activities include: paragliding, golfing, fishing, canyoning and tennis.

Portes du Soleil Ski Area

600 km of skiing in 2 countries making the Portes du Soleil the biggest international ski area in the world.

Here skiing is a journey, with different panoramas and routes to look forward to every day, and each of our 12 village resorts offering a charm of their own.

The resorts are amongst the most well known, including Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Abondance, Chatel and St Jean DAulps to name but a few.

They also offer excellent opportunities for downhill mountain bikers outside the winter months.

As a popular holiday destination in both summer and winter, these resorts offer investment potential. So whether you are looking for a quiet and peaceful family resort (Chatel or St Jean D'Aulps for example) or something a little more lively (Morzine) the Portes du Soleil has it all.

Within easy distance of the International Airport at Geneva plus close to Lake Geneva, this ski area is the perfect destination.

Morzine Ski Resort

Situated mid-way between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, the ever popular resort of Morzine is absolutely stunning, well known for its Alpine scenery, nestled between forests and summits. Life is leisurely, and the village although vibrant and bustling has lost nothing of its original charm and Savoyard way of life. Ideally situated right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Morzine is the gateway to a marvellous winter playground of 650 km of ski-slopes where you can ski from French into Switzerland and back again all in one day.  When it comes to lunchtime you are spoilt for choice with all the mountain restaurants scattered everywhere.

In summer, these slopes become sign-posted footpaths for trekking and moutain biking. Originally life in Morzine was one of agriculture and slate-mines but with the opening of the ‘Grand Hotel’ (first tourist hotel built in the 1920’s) and its owner François Baud opened up a new opportunities for the village and it’s in habitants. Then in 1934 the Pleney cable car was opened and the thick covering of snow started some previously unknown sports: tobogganing, ski-jöring (towed behind a horse), the beginnings of downhill skiing and even ski-jumping!

If ski or snow boarding instruction is the order of the day there are avariety of French and English speaking Instructors in the ski schools.

There is a vast array of shops, bars and restaurants, offering plenty to non-skiers as well and for after ski fun.  This makes Morzine a good all year round resot for those who live here and those with Holiday homes.
