The main entrance is via the balcony on the east side where you walk into a huge entrance hall that is approximately 12 m². There are two large bedrooms off of the hallway one is approximately 10 m² and the other is approximately 13 m², both bedrooms have direct access to the east balcony. There is a bright, spacious dining/living room with a free standing wood burner & a small south facing balcony that could be extended. The fully equipped kitchen is separated by an open bar counter allowing the chef to feel part of the festivities while keeping the kitchen itself private so that dinner guests are blind to any mess. In the back right-hand side of the kitchen is a very practical walk-in pantry approximately 2 m². The main living area including the kitchen is approximately 43.5 m² There is a very large bathroom (11.6 m²) with shower, sink and plenty of space to add a washer & dryer plus a bathtub or sauna! The bathroom is large enough to convert into another bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. There is a separate WC in the private hallway. Equally, you can create a 2nd bathroom in a space that is unused close to the 2 existing bedrooms which is approximately 8 m². The house itself is spread out over 4 levels & has been divided into 3 separate apartments each over an entire level (the top apartment is a duplex). ]
There is a possibility to buy a large vaulted cellar under the house & a small garden area in front of the property which you can convert into 2 parking places side-by-side if needed. There is public parking very close to the property if you chose to keep the garden area as a garden. Should you wish to turn the main entrance room into a 3rd bedroom then you can easily create a private separate entrance hall that would open directly into the pantry area off the kitchen. There is a small storage area under the east balcony stairs which is also available & would be ideal for stocking your wood pellets for the wood burner in the main living area.
Villemartin is a very popular hamlet that is south facing and overlooks the valley towards Courchevel in the 3 Valleys ski resort. It is a lively village with a strong year-round population. The roads are kept clear during the winter and there is a regular school bus service. Villemartin has the longest amount of sunshine apart from its neighbouring village Tincave due to its favourable orientation & altitude. There are no shops or bars in the village but there is easy access to Bozel which is 3.5 km by road. However, there is a van that comes to the village twice a week with fresh bread, butter, pastries, milk, eggs, etc. Bozel is the closest village with a full variety of commerces that are open year round. There is also a beautiful trailhead that goes down through the forest directly to Bozel. It is a single track and wonderful for hiking up and down which takes approximately 15-20 minutes. There is an abundance of trailheads to choose from for hiking and mountain biking which allows you to leave from your doorstep without having to drive.
Below are the approximate distances from Villemartin: 3.5 km to Bozel where there is a free ski bus that runs approximately every hour during the winter and summer season to Le Praz, Courchevel. 13.5 km to the ski lift in Le Praz, Courchevel. 10 km to the ski lift in Champagny that links to Paradiski resort which offers an additional 400 km of ski pistes. 18 km to the TGV train station in Moutiers. 184 km to the Lyon, Grenoble and Geneva airports.
Three Valleys Ski Area
A beautiful place all year with highly defined seasons and quiet and tranquil out of the ski season when the crowds have gone home, and then suddenly once again each winter the mountains of the Three Valleys come alive with people enjoying this vast ski area..... the largest linked skiing in the world.
The Three Valleys ski domain provides more than 600km of runs and probably the same again off-piste. In fact it should now be called the Four Valleys with the link into Orelle (Maurienne Valley) which can be accessed by ski from Val Thorens. This has also opened up some extraordinary off-piste runs. The Three Valleys provides direct links between the ski resorts of St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires, Val Thorens, Méribel, Mottaret, La Tania, Brides les Bains and the four Courchevel resorts, la Praz, 1550, 1650 and the world famous 1850 – and now Orelle, in the fourth valley - all under one ski pass offering on-piste skiing from 1300m all the way up to 3200m. As these figures show the Three Valleys ski area offers huge altitude differences favouring long run skiing.
It has an ultra efficient, state of the art ski lift system, quality piste preparation and a dense artificial snow making system (1920 snow cannons) complementing the excellent natural snow cover. However, if you are not a fan of downhill skiing or like some variety during your stay then you can also roam the domain at your leisure on foot, hiking along the marked trails, or using the pedestrian ski lift passes. Many trails have been created especially to enjoy the increasingly popular snowshoeing sport and to discover the valleys from a new perspective: flora, wildlife, monuments, and spectacular scenery. There are also many cross-country skiing tracks that are prepared and maintained each day. These allow you to take in the breathtaking scenery and provide the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the mountains away from the pistes.
An interesting and wonderful area all year round, there is much more here than the snow sports.
Bozel - Courchevel Ski Resort
Bozel is a beautiful town which gets a lot of sunshine all year round. It is predominantly French but there are a few English locals too who tend to be well integrated into the local community, with kids in the school. Bozel thrives in winter and in summer. Just 10 minutes by car from Moutiers (where trains arrive from London, Paris, Lyon...), 10 minutes drive from the ski lifts in Courchevel le Praz, and just 8 minute drive from Champagny/la Plagne, you have the pick of several ski resorts in winter time! Most notably Bozel is also on the free ski bus route to Courchevel.
In summer Bozel attracts many people who come to the area to walk, bike and climb or just relax by the lake and enjoy the French way of life. Bozel has everything you need - shops selling local produce, a butcher, a beautiful church with its unusual spire, beautiful views of the Grand Bec, walks from the doorstep, bars and restuarants. Its a great place to consider buying as you can get a lot more for your money here than you can further up the mountain, although people are now wising up and it is expected prices will start to rise soon.
