Stunning views from this well situated town property, close to shops and ski lift.
The House… On a slightly elevated part of Town is this hidden away property which is very private even though it is just minutes walk from the centre. It has a walled off garden to the front and another lower garden accessed via the cellars. The views from the gardens take in the whole Town and the valley running South of Briancon. Through the main entrance to this classically built property we have the kitchen / diner to the left of the hall and the bright spacious lounge to the right. The lounge has wide sliding windows that also take in the stunning views of Briancon. On this floor we have the master bedroom with en suite shower and sink. Behind the fitted kitchen is a pantry and storage area.
Up the wooden stairs we come to the oak floored landing which has 3 large bedroom leading from it. They all have oak floors and fitted cupboards. There is another shower room and toilet on this level. From the front garden we can access the main “cave” which is now a workshop. There is a boiler room behind this where wet weather clothes and ski equipment is stored. Through the second cave we go down stone steps to the lowest cellar which is just storage. This cave is over 12m long and could be converted in to more living space quite easily. This property makes a lovely home but could easily be marketed for weekly rental purposes.
The Area…. The property is located in the lower part of Briancon, called Saint Catherine, though it still has fantastic views. The exact location makes it ideal for access to the Old Town, to schools, shops, restaurants and bars as well as the Prorel Telecabine which is only a 12 minute walk away. It is just beside the Parc D’Eschappe which has a lovely lake and is often the venue for summer events for kids. The weekly market takes place at the bottom of the road from the house and the train station is just 400 m away.
Serre Chevalier Ski Area
This “jewel in the crown” is one of the best kept secrets in the southern alps. Here the high tree line coupled with amazing off piste make it an all-round ski paradise. Unlike many other mountain resorts, The Serre Chevalier Valley is made up of many villages and hamlets as well as the town of Briancon, the highest town in France.
Monetier Les Bains, the highest of the villages ,has a typical alpine atmosphere as well as having the beautiful open air spa baths. Here you can relax after a hard days ski and enjoy the magnificent views of the hanging glacier and snow capped peaks.
Serre Chevalier isn't a purpose built resort and as such is an ideal place to consider having an alpine home with all of the facilities associated with normal living – transport, education and shops. At the same time this amazing resort is only a few kms away from hidden valleys, high mountain pastures and the vast Ecrin national park.
Transport to Serre Chevalier is much easier than before with regular flights to both Grenoble and Turin airports.
