This beautiful chalet, now a family home, formerly operated as a profitable catered chalet for skiing in the winter and road cyclists in the summer
The chalet is located only 4km from the main Gondola linking the village of Venosc to Les Deux Alpes. It is located in an idyllic and very peaceful hamlet surrounded by beautiful mountains, rivers and waterfalls in the Venéon valley
The main living area on the ground floor level of the house comprises a modern fitted kitchen and a spacious living/dinning room equipped with a wood-burner, wi-fi internet, UK and French television. From this section of the house we can move outside to the raised wooden terrace (20m2) with hot-tub facing on to the river and mountains.
On the upper level we find the master bedroom with mezzanine and en-suite bathroom. The mezzanine currently functions as a small office area however is large enough to accommodate two single beds. On the same level there are another two double bedrooms with en-suite shower room and toilet. The fourth bedroom has no en-suite facility but instead uses the spacious separate bathroom and toilet located on the same level.
The basement level comprises an individual studio apartment with kitchenette and shower-room. This was formerly the stables and features the original vaulted ceilings, a classic feature of these old farmhouses. A separate laundry/utility room is also found on this level and is accessible internally as well as from the outside.
Other key features include a spacious cellar and a purpose built secure bike shed on the outside of the building. The surrounding gardens have been well designed on multi levels with ample parking for three cars. A small stream runs down to the main river along the edge of the garden to the rear of the property.
Les Deux Alpes Ski Area
Les Deux-Alpes is a vibrant ski resort both in the summer and winter, famous for its glacier skiing in winter and downhill mountain biking in summer.
The town is long and narrow, sitting on a high col and has an outdoor ice rink, many shops and restaurants and a huge selection of bars and nightclubs.
The ski area is high, snow-sure and has varied slopes, including the extensive glacier with guaranteed snow quality. There is lots of good off-piste terrain with stunning views of the Ecrins National Park’s high southern peaks. It has one of the largest skiable glaciers in Europe open from late June until the end of August. It also has one of the biggest snow-parks. There are lots of summer training camps for skiers and boarders. You can ski here for nearly 8 full months of the year. It opened on the 16 June this year (2016) with 40 cm of Fresh powder on the glacier! It also opens for a week in October for the 'toussaints' holiday. The french team are training here at the moment.
We have split the area into the 4 different resorts: Deux Alpes 1350, Deux Alpes 1650, Venosc and Mont de Lans.
Regular bus services make transfers cheap and easy from both Grenoble airport and train station.
