Beautiful old house to renovate in quiet alpine village with amazing mountain views.
The House... This is a complete renovation project which is ready to start. The house lies in the heart of the village and has had structural work to one end of the building so that the main work can commence. Water, mains drainage and electricity are laid on to the building but not currently connected. The whole building currently has 90 m2 of living space but the owners have had permission and plans drawn up to increase the total living area to 135 m2.
The house is over 2 floors but the finished project could include a 3rd floor with blacony providing spectacular views over the surrounding mountains. Rarely do renovation projects with this scope arise at this price. Please contact the agent for more info on plans etc.
The Area.... Les Cours is a small hamlet just beside Auris en Oisans which makes up part ot the Alpe D'Huez ski domain. It is just a few minutes away from the lift system and in such has kept its old mountain charm. Being on this side of the ski area also means it is only 20 minutes drive from the neighbouring ski resort – Les Deux Alpes. The nearest populated town is Bourg D'Oisans just 15 minutes away and then Grenoble city at 45 minutes with its airport and rail links.
Espace Killy Ski Area
The legendary ski area of Espace Killy has over 300kms of marked piste and endless off-piste options – some of the most varied and exciting skiing you can find! The ski area links the two resorts of Val d’Isere and Tignes.
Val d’Isere sits at approximately 1800 metres and is a truly modern alpine village. The pretty old town of snow filled streets and Savoyard stone buildings is home to the original village church built in 1664. The resort centre is lively and vibrant, with shops, restaurants and bars to suit any budget and taste, lining the wide, spacious main-street.
Every season, during summer and winter, Val d’Isere hosts all sorts of events – from Savoyard festivals or fayres show-casing local produce such as cheeses, cured meats or lace. International sporting events like the Tour de France and the World Ski Championships often stage an event here. Music festivals are often hosted during the summer and winter 2010 welcomes a stage of the World Snow Polo Masters Series!
The villages of Tignes are a little further down the valley towards Bourg St Maurice. Just like Val d’Isere, the ski area boasts wide, cruisey red runs, snow-parks for those who want to play and show off their tricks and quieter beginner areas where you can find your “skis” and build confidence – and of course immense off-piste itineraries, so much space you are bound to find untracked snow!
The lively resort centre is a real haven for those looking for energetic après-ski and night-life – there are lots of bars, café’s, restaurants and night-clubs to entertain until the early hours. During the day-time there is an equal abundance of activity – the resort is just as regarded as a summer resort as it is a winter snow sports centre. You will find a superb 18-hole golf course, organised activities on the lake, skiing on the glacier, beach volleyball and football and the usual mountain biking, walking and horse-riding.
